Ken Ishii – A Techno Ninja

For years I was a House music puritan. I never got the whole Techno thing until I heard two Japanese Techno producers. The first, Satoshi Tomie, came to my attention with the classic Love in Traffic and the second, Ken Ishii, appeared by magic to me one day when I was wasting my time on some mix videos on Dance Trippin. After the below performance; tecnho finally made some sense to me.
The two mp3s below are taken from his 2006 album Sunriser. In total Ken Ishii has 16 albums to his name stretching 15 years. Pretty impressive stuff for a techno producer!

Genres are blurred in my head but that techno has some house/jungle in it, at least at first. No wonder you like it.
(This techno head loves it. I thought all programmers got techno. Best way to programme late at night.)
True. It’s a progressive techno mix more than a bangin’ one. I much prefer this style. It’s more ambient.
One of my favourite techno mixes is from the other Japanese DJ I mentioned, Satoshi Tomie. Grab his Vision mix from March 2007 if it ever pops up anywhere for ya. It’s an epic contrast to Ken Ishii’s style above. The Vision mix is a pure dark deep techno. Unreal.
