Wolf Parade – I love thy

Oh Canada, Oh Canada! First you gave us Bryan Adams, we forgive you for that hiccup. Then you brought us gems like Stars, Broken Social Scene, Fiest, Arcade Fire, The Constaines, Young Galaxy, The New Pornographers, MSTRKRFT, Tokyo Police Club, and the list goes on and on

The latest addition to my musical collection to hail from Canada are Wolf Parade. They have a bit of the cabaret big band sound type flavour of Arcade Fire mixed with a bit of ‘Je ne sais pas’!

Below is their track Modern World taken from their debut album; Apologies to the Queen Mary.

Lead singer and guitarist, Dan Boeckner, is also the frontman for Handsome Furs (more Candaian goodness, something in the water…?).

Check out syndicated reviews of both of their releases via Metacritic;  Apologies to the Queen Mary and At Mount Zoomer.

  1. Hey Cormac, if you get the chance, check out The Most Serene Republic, great band out of Toronto.

They did a few gigs here over the summer (end of May), missed the lot of them, but they’ve some solid tunes.

Ah yes, I know of them. Very good band. Every band on the Arts and Crafts label is simply amazing.

  3. Georgie says:

Did you see them at Vicar street there last week? Unbelievable.

  4. Cormac says:

    Hiya Georgie,
I didn’t realise they were even playing. Flub :(
