New Material from Gomez

British rock veterans Gomez release their 6th studio album in 13 years on March 30th. The album is called A New Tide and features 11 tracks. One of which is Airstream Driver. The track is pretty uninspiring as a lead single (that is of course, if it is to be the lead single) and sounds no way reminiscent of any of the offerings from the super-duper Bring it On (1998) or Liquid Skin (1999).

It’s a probably a bit hasty to judge a book on the opening chapter though and that’s not to say the track is poor. I actually quite like it. I just hope the guys have another “We Haven’t Turned Around” or “Tijuana Lady” amongst those 10 other tracks. I would love nothing more than Gomez to pull out another gem of an album but their recent track record reads for pretty mediocre listening. Fingers X.
